If you haven't seen Vicki Schmidt's article on LAER in the Sept. issue of Fire Engineering Magazine, check it out. Its great! Five pages with pictures! Way to go, Vicki!
Christmas is coming!
When you're making out your shopping list, think about giving the gift of life to your friends and family who have animals.
- Pay their tuition for a class on LAR
- Give them a book on LAR
- Buy and/or teach a class
- Donate a book/class to your fire dept., rescue group, or animal control/humane society
"Give a man a fish and he easts for one day; teach a man to fish and he can feed himself."
Make a difference this holiday season. Times are tough all over. Make your dollars count for something!
EQUIPMENT and SUPPLIES
Nothing new here.
Laurie Loveman's new website has livestock owners interested in barn fire safety. Learn how to keep your horses and other animals safe from fire at www.firesafetyinbarns.com
Laurie also sent along the link for EquineU's, Emergency Planning Workbook, by Action Safety Education, Inc. http://www.equineu.com/about_us/hbp.php Laurie and I are both passionate about preparation, so we are spreading the word about this free download and we hope you take advantage of it.
FIRE HOSE and EMERGENCY STRAPS
Next month I would like to write about using fire hose and tow straps for drags and lifts. A question was raised about removing the rubber liner from hose to make it easier to use. Tomas Gimenez sent some excellent advice, and I'd like to hear from the rest of you, as well.
Please send your comments to me and I'll incorporate them into an article on the subject. Thanks.
